UPDATE 10/14/24: Road Access and Possible Shipping Delays Due to Hurricane Helene
Western North Carolina is still in recovery from Hurricane Helene. Major interstates into the Asheville area are open, as are the main roads (I-240 and Hwy 63) to our facility in Madison County. https://drivenc.gov now lists the WNC area as for ESSENTIAL TRAFFIC ONLY. USPS, FedEx and UPS have all been able to reach our facility. Larger freight-load carriers also have access to our location. Truckers coming from Tennessee into WNC need to be aware of detours on I-40 and I-26, click here.
Trucks over 30' long are being advised by NC DOT not to use Google Maps, Waze or Apple Maps in the hurricane-affected areas as they are directing trucks to areas where they are getting stuck. See https://www.ncdot.gov/TIMS/Trucks_over_30_foot_routes.pdf
Thousands of volunteers from around the state and country--including FEMA, the National Guard, and Army Corps of Engineers--are still working around the clock distributing aid, clearing roads, rebuilding, and making repairs. There are improvements every day. Power, internet and cell service have been restored for most of the region, except for the hardest hit areas. Water service is slowly coming online in neighboring Buncombe County, but is still considered non-potable with much of the area under a boil water notice. Gas stations are open, but many restaurants remain closed. Many places of business, if they are open, are only able to take cash at this time too. So, be prepared if you do have to travel to/through the area.
Thank you for your patience, concern and understanding while we bounce back from this extreme weather event.
